Single breath-hold Vd(m) calculation as good as multi breath-hold technique in Equilibrium Contrast CMR

چکیده
Results 54 subjects (median age 49, range 24-81, 26 males) were recruited. We noted poor agreement and correlation in the pre contrast T1s in both blood and myocardium. There was strong correlation, but poor agreement in post contrast T1 measurements. However, mean Vd(m) at equilibrium was 0.258±0.032 using MFA FLASH and 0.263±0.034 with ShMOLLI, with good agreement on Bland Altman analysis (Fig 1), suggesting that the Vd (m) calculation can compensate for the variability in pre contrast T1 measurements. There was also good agreement between the Vd(m) at equilibrium and at potential pseudoequilibrium (Fig 2).

Comparison of T1 mapping techniques for ECV quantification. Histological validation and reproducibility of ShMOLLI versus multibreath-hold T1 quantification equilibrium contrast CMR
BACKGROUND Myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) is elevated in fibrosis or infiltration and can be quantified by measuring the haematocrit with pre and post contrast T1 at sufficient contrast equilibrium. Equilibrium CMR (EQ-CMR), using a bolus-infusion protocol, has been shown to provide robust measurements of ECV using a multibreath-hold T1 pulse sequence. Newer, faster sequences for T1 mapp...
متن کاملA compressed sensing multi-slice cine CMR approach for the accurate assessment of left ventricular volumes and function
Background CMR is generally accepted as the gold standard for left ventricular (LV) volumes and function assessment. The conventional CMR approach involves several breathholds to cover the entire heart with short-axis acquisitions. Recently, compressed sensing (CS) techniques emerged as a means to considerably accelerate data acquisition. CS principally relies on: 1) transform sparsity, 2) inco...
متن کاملSingle breath-hold assessment of cardiac function using an accelerated 3D single breath-hold acquisition technique - comparison of an intravascular and extravascular contrast agent
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is the current gold standard for the assessment of left ventricular (LV) function. Repeated breath-holds are needed for standard multi-slice 2D cine steady-state free precession sequences (M2D-SSFP). Accelerated single breath-hold techniques suffer from low contrast between blood pool and myocardium. In this study an intravascular contrast agen...
متن کاملOptimization of single shot 3D breath-hold non-enhanced MR angiography of the renal arteries
BACKGROUND Cardiac and navigator-gated, inversion-prepared non-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography techniques can accurately depict the renal arteries without the need for contrast administration. However, the scan time and effectiveness of navigator-gated techniques depend on the subject respiratory pattern, which at times results in excessively prolonged scan times or suboptimal image qua...
متن کاملEffect of variable breath-hold positions during cardiac magnetic resonance on measures of left ventricular mechanics
Background Measures of left ventricular cardiac mechanics such as strains and torsion are becoming increasingly important for assessing heart function. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) can be used to quantify cardiac mechanics using several methods such as tagged CMR or cine Displacement Encoding with Stimulated Echoes (DENSE). These images are generally acquired during an end-expiratory breath...
